Art of Appreciation

We can develop a personal appreciation practice that will bring more joy to our life and our days.

Here are a few tips to help you get started (I invite you to add your own tips in the Comments section below):

  • Observe things around you.
  • Find something you like that brings a smile to your heart. Notice what you are feeling as you think about the reason(s) for liking this particular thing. I’ll bet you are feeling a sense of gratitude.
  • SMILE –It’s that simple. The act of bringing joy to your face via a smile,even if you’re pretending,will raise your gratitude attitude.
  • Think of things you enjoy and appreciate. This might be a walk through nature,a good laugh you recently had,a lesson learned,etc.
  • Be in the moment. In almost any situation,if you look for something to be thankful for you’ll find it. Even if someone is angry or yelling,you can be thankful that it’s not you behaving in that manner.
  • Notice the small things. Everything matters. The more we appreciate the small things,the more the bigger things will mean to us and others.
